    From the point of view of the stockers.... The orders that come in are packaged by company, not by type of cereal.

    It's a lot easier to sort the load from the truck by brand than by what type of cereal there is.

    Imagine a pallet of kellogg comes in and a pallet of General mills.

    Would it be of efficient use of the stockers time to send one box down to where the corn flakes are and one box to where the oatmeal O's are?

    It is usually sorted by company - because of how the grocery load arrives.

    Also not every brand is maintained by the store. While some brands may come from the grocery factory, other brands are maintained by the vendors.

    Merchandisers come in to maintain several of the displays and the shelf space given to a particular brand.
