With WWII, we saw utter and complete victory, and we saw it relatively quickly (4 years).

The people who served, endured and died would argue with the "quickly" part of that. In 41 we were fighting an organized government. There was an ultimate victory in the defeat of Japan and Germany. In the Middle East there is no organized for of government to deal with. It's chaos. It's a war that can never be won but must be contained IMO. To walk away is defeat.

With WWII, the human cost / casualty was almost unimaginable by todays terms. I believe the U.S. lost on the order of 400,000+ troops. Unimaginable.

War strategy has changed. We fight technical wars now with the intent of destroying property and disrupting governments not necessarily killing the enemy. Guerillas and terrorist fight a different kind of war.

WWII was a completely different type of conflict. Our government has never took nearly complete control of the economy & production like it did in the early 40s.

Maybe it's time that happened again. Factories building a war machine put alot of people to work in that era. It was probably one of the main contributors to rebounding from the depression. Of course now, we only complain about what is being spent on defending this nation.

That said, I've seen much celebration when people return home. Have you ever been to a welcome-home party? Or been at Lambert when their plane rolls in? Trust me, the pride hasn't away

Been there and seen that Catch and I'm very proud to have done so. But I've also seen the protesters of the Vietnam era, the animals who protest at the funerals of heroes and it sickens me.

I think the country, especially the kids of this day, are more interested in what this country can do for them than they are in what they can do for this country. It's no longer about supporting the cause it's about, how much can I get? Sad time for me. Fortunately when you get old you don't have to see it much longer. I pray for a generation yet to come.
