Wow, 3d, you really want to open this can of worms?
Yes, Pontoon has been "led" by one major political faction, with one dictatorial voice, for forever. You had better not ever have crossed them, or speak out against them. It has gotten very bad for those who did, sometimes--civil rights, and equality under the law, be damned.
Others have run against them, and past elections have gotten VERY dirty. And once, they got mad with each other and split their party in the elections, so the residents got a choice of voting for them, or them!! They won, again!!
Very glad the times here are finally changing, and very happy to have been a part of the change.
It's going to take all of the voters to get to the polls to overcome the friends and family votes that have been there at every election, though this next election seems to be offering up much less of the past ideologies.
If my personal observations and experiences on the last thirty years of politics in Pontoon Beach seem flawed, please, someone offer up an opposing view on things, and I will be happy to discuss it here, or elsewhere.
