    Pontoon Parties Archived Message

I did not want to steal fire from Operator's announcement, and what a fine place to make an announcement. So I thought I would post these questions and this discussion in a new topic.

I never understood the Pontoon parties. As i grew older, I found out that many locales have local style parties.

Just a few short miles across the border in beautiful Granite City, the elections for local elections were non-partisan.

Or they were all so Democratic that you were voting on what type of Democrat you wanted. Or you brought your union's election choices to the poll and just voted for all those that got labor's endorsement. Or remember your friends that got you that job.

GC never had local parties, but people somehow instinctively knew who was being supported by the voices that seemed to count. Hopefully some of this is changing.

But going back to Pontoon -- do these parties have long standing roots? Do they have long standing factions within the village itself.

It's apparent that there is a party for each slate of candidates, and it's apparent that the slate usually ends up being mixed in the end.

But have Pontoon parties gone back to the villages incorporation or has it been a more recent thing?

I am pretty dumb about Pontoon Beach...but know a lot of good people from there. So I was wondering how it all worked out.
