About the 911 call having to be transferred...

First off, I am a 911 Operator so let me try to explain this... they are still working on all of the technology with cell phones being routed to the correct 911 center without having to be re-routed...BUT as of now the cell phone calls do not go through County they are picked up by the closest cell phone tower and whatever agency that tower is in will get the call.

It only takes a matter of seconds to transfer you to the appropriate agency IF the caller cooperates and gives us the information that we need.

EVERYONE... when you call 911, take a deep breath, remember that YOU are calling this person for help so LISTEN to them and let them get the information that they need so they can send you what you need!!! I could not tell you how many people want to stop and argue about why I need your address and phone number right off of the bat before we go any further... Think about it, if you are on a cell phone then you might not be up on the map yet so if you lose a signal or we get disconnected, then I already know where you are or how to get ahold of you.

Also, everyone KNOW that if you have one of those throw away phones that you just buy minutes for... your callback number does not come up on a 911 map...

So work with the 911 operator, they really are trying to help you!

    Thanks
