Government employee unions epitomize the old adage about 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner…except in this case, the sheep doesn’t get to vote. Think about who is at the bargaining table with a government employee union. The ‘Company’ (government employee) negotiates with the ‘Union Representative’ (government employee) on how much more the Tax Payer (not present) is going to pay both of them as well as what kind of protections against being ‘let go’ their contract will enumerate, in addition to what kind of fantabulous retirement plan they can come up with. To add insult to injury, a non-government union knows that if their demands make the company unprofitable, everyone is out of a job, but in the government employee union, there are no such guard rails. The leeching needs to end.
