Three persons, including two active-duty United States soldiers and a former service member, have been arrested for allegedly leaking classified military information to Chinese contacts, stated federal court documents unsealed this week.
Two of the accused—Sergeant Jian Zhao and 1st Lieutenant Li Tian—are both stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington state. Zhao, Tian and ex-soldier Ruoyu Duan from Oregan have all been charged with stealing and selling sensitive national defence information, which also includes details of missile-launch technology and military vehicles.

As per the prosecutors, Zhao allegedly handed over around 20 military hard drives, some of which were marked ‘secret’ to a contact in China. He also attempted to sell missile-related data and offered to send an encrypted US military computer in exchange for payment.
