Constitutional law is clear: The executive branch cannot, on its own, close or shut down a federal agency that has been established by Congress. That is Congress’ job. But Trump and Musk are trying to do so anyway. They are cancelling payments for things already been appropriated by Congress.
It's pretty clear, despite the Constitution and the law, they are steam rolling their way and using the tech company mantra of "move fast and break things". Plenty of lawsuits have been filed, but the courts move slow and it's unlikely Musk and Trump will adhere to any rulings against them.
The DOGE website as of Thursday said "Receipt are coming no later than February 14 -- yesterday. Today it reads "Receipts Coming Over the Weekend" I'm anxious to see these "receipts" and if they want the transparency they talk about it needs to be more than "cancelled this or that contract" -- tell us who that will affect and what it means for Americans... not just that it saved xx amount of money.
