Well, Blu your "side" does not represent the interests of the entire Nation. I expect the Dems to ask the important questions and to press until they get an honest answer. Does it include their self interests, sure in the sense that they are representing their constituents, who expect them to represent them and not just rubber stamp folks who are not qualified. You seem to forget that many nominees have met with very little or any resistance.
