Seems to me Trump is off to a good start. Saying we want them to have a legal path now is like saying, "yeah but I thought she was on the pill" when you're in the delivery room.

The question is, why did they come here illegally when there was a good program to get them here like many of our ancestors did. The answer is because many of them were packed in by mules, drug dealers and gangs.

What I would happily go along with is to make a law that states, anyone who is here illegally has sixty days to report to authorities and ask to begin the legal process toward citizenship.

Part of that would also mean they cannot harbor any fugitives from other countries, and they must have gainful employment within those sixty days.

After that time, they become officially illegal and are subject to deportation. While they are being sought, all benefits given to them at the taxpayers' expense will be forfeited.

There would be no reason for them not to accept this temporary immunity unless they have crimes in their past. There must be consequences if laws are not followed.
