A Chinese tech company started it in 2017 - mergers took place, it became international.
By 2018, it became the most downloaded app in the US, 40 languages included with one billion user activity per month. Holy Moly!
Somehow in 2020 it became under scrutiny by our National Security and then Trump announced a possible ban (July 2020).
"the Trump administration announced that the app would be removed from U.S. app stores on 12 November 2020, unless ByteDance could assure the Trump administration that the app does not pose a threat to U.S. security".
NOT ONE WORD OR MENTION OF SECURITY CONCERN, until
"April 2024, President Biden signed a law that could result in the banning of TikTok in the United States unless its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, sells the app to a non-Chinese entity by January 2025. On January 19, 2025, TikTok was banned in the United States."
So suspect and coincidental.
Drill it! Deport it! Ditch it! Drain it!
