Why do you suppose they would lie about that? If you had to choose one of them to believe vs. Trump, are you going to believe Trump?

Once it was clear to Republicans that they were endanger of losing their power, their seats, if Trump didn't endorse them they backed up everything he said or did.

I think they should have replaced him, they just didn't have the balls to do it.
