That's a question with no easy answer, Opinionated. The concept of paying one's "fair share" is arbitrary so you would really need to look at exactly what the proposals were, which I have not done. I'm sure what is fair to someone with a low or moderate income is different than a billionaire's view. There is also the question of taxes on work vs. wealth. Should work be taxed at a higher rate than wealth, which it often is.

Bottom line, I don't know the answer to your question, but I think work needs to be done to equalize things to the extent that those that can take advantage of all of the various tax loopholes etc are not paying a much lower percentage of their income than people with a much lower income.

One of the many reasons Trump didn't want to release tax returns was because he didn't want people seeing how little he paid in taxes.
