How do these people become "appointed" to these positions? Is it who you know, or who you claim to not know?
Exactly how does an elderly woman with almost zero knowledge of the subject end up sitting on the MESD board, and when her term is up, just refuse to step aside? How is it not a conflict of interest that her husband also sits on wastewater treatment board?
"At Wednesday’s regular county board meeting, the removal of Dixon from the MESD Board was placed on the agenda by Prenzler. During the meeting he cited the ongoing issue of that board giving its members insurance."
Does this mean the taxpayers are paying for Mrs. Dixon's health insurance? IF so, is she on some kind of family plan? Does this mean the taxpayers are also paying for health insurance on Mr. Dixon too?
Surely there is no way one of the most privileged couples in this town are being given health coverage at the taxpayers expense, right?
"According to state law, MESD commissioners receive the same salaries as County Board members from either St. Clair or Madison County, whichever is lower. MESD commissioners’ salaries are $14,500, the same as Madison County board members. However, they also have paid health insurance, something the County Board gave up years ago."
What compensation if any does one receive for sitting on the wastewater treatment board? Exactly how much money is this couple raking in for these side gigs?
