Here's what I picked up and please remember, this is third hand information.
The superintendent is up for a contract extension. Knowing she is under fire from at least a couple of board members and a good portion of the community, she has to secure four votes to get an extension. The remaining six board members were split 3-3 on who to appoint.
With the loss of Dr. MacMasters, there was a potential of a split decision on a contract extension. So, they go through a "search", the proper way to learn about candidates and interview a few of those folks. It seems like, in today's world, a quick look at the social media pages of any candidate would have been looked at but maybe not.
So, several candidates were interviewed. I heard one name but not 100% sure so I won't mention it. In comes a woman who is supposedly close to one of the board members who favors Dr. Con. She's a former educator so that's a plus. However, according to what I learned, she's never shown much interest in local politics and in fact, hasn't voted in several local elections. So, of course, people see her as a plant and a potential 4th vote for the superintendent. The superintendent has a relative on the board and he previously abstained from voting when she was hired so it it's assumed he will again.
It becomes very clouded because now you theoretically have six members voting for the extension of the contract, one who will be seated for less than a minute when she cast what could be a deciding vote.
In fairness, this appointee may be a good person with no hidden agenda. It just looks bad at this stage of the game and when you look at the disgusting rhetoric on her FB page about police officers, it causes serious concern (at least to more conservative people).
Time will tell I guess, and one thing is certain, there is an election next April and I seriously doubt this lady, with her views exposed, will be picked by the public to serve.
Gotta love the local politics. LOL.
they did not fail, because they did what their country asked of them....
