Everyone keeps saying the city needs to support union. This isn’t a city issue.
This event is produced by Alfresco Productions the local arts organization along with local businesses and sponsors.
How can an event that is no cost to the community and is paying the performers a bad thing?
What is the goal here, to eliminate live music?
If the musicians are being paid the price that they set what is the problem.
Has anyone asked if there are any union members booked. As far as that goes how many union bands are there anyway? Even if they are union are they the types of bands that people want to hear at this event ?
Who in their right mind thinks they can tell you what type of music you have to hire?
It’s easy to sit back and dictate what everyone else needs to do.
Are we now going to see informational lines at every bar in town that offers live music or is the union only picking and choosing because they think they can bully their way with this event
Should all of these events be cancelled and the performers lose another gig and the people lose out on a much anticipated event because the woman in charge refuses to bow to intimidation.
We should ask the park director the reason they ended their concert series in Wilson Park with this very union.
To Brenda Whitaker from those of us who actually see what you’ve done and continue to, we truly do appreciate you but would certainly understand if you choose to stop trying.
What a sad commentary on this community if this is what we’ve become.
