The mom has to quarantine and not get paid, rent piles up as do the ability to provide for the kids.
Of course, in your book, she'll never have any dignity....no matter the story.
You don't want to invest one penny to the situation, because you have some old hard-assed narrative --- and she can do whatever your parents did to make it.
Today, a simple $4000 - $5000 could put most of her obligations to rest......and the kids will be equipped to break the cycle and hopefully make better choices.
Or society can turn its back... and not only does her load become insurmountable, but then the children will be costly on society as well...perhaps costing you $50,000 a year or more.
You do not actually advocate anything that makes any sense. You, and your friends of the GOP advocate for a literal shitting on the poor, and would gladly pay more to do it!
You'll pay for more prisons in that ruse that you are actually 'getting tough on crime' --- when a prisoner costs society much more than it would have cost to help maintain a basic style of living.
It's like preventative medicine. You'd rather pay for societal open heart surgery than for nutritious food and an exercise program. Because, you want to be tough and you don't want anyone to get any more breaks than you did. If you can make it anyone can make it.
Another thing.....try to stop the decline into poverty and you may be able to create more productive contributing taxpayers as well.
Other countries are realizing this and realizing the savings.....even closing prisons, because there are not enough people to incarcerate.
But, we have our pride.....this false notion of 'the American way of doing things'.....no matter how inefficient, outdated, and ineffective it is.
There is a price for our pride.....and you seem to prefer to pay it.
When you ban books before you ban guns, you've admitted that you're more afraid of children learning than you are of children dying.
