in awhile and they ignore me. I expect ill be playing my stereo full blast quite often to drown these idiots out and i wont be running many errands because you never know when the next barrage will begin. Its not that bad now, this time next month it will be anything goes, and anything will go. Everyone knows these dumb asses do this evry year, and yet its just blown off by in this case by the village of Pontoon Beach. I get it, i really do, i wouldnt want to screw with it either, its a royal pain in the ass, walking that tightrope between letting people have fun to allowing people to letting those people force others to stay home in fear that their dogs may try to jump through the window after hearing what sounds like a mortar round. Most venues choose the middle ground, asking the police to drive around and telling people to knock it off when they get crazy with it. That actually seems like a sensible approach, and it may do the trick in most areas of the village, and elsewhere, but it doesnt do a damn thing here. This was just a little 10 minute run with the basic bottle rockets, my dogs didnt like it but it wasnt anything in comparison of whats to come. If i didnt have these dogs they could blow the whole village up and i would be ok with. I really dont care what people do but when something that is supposed to be illegal keeps me at home, it really makes me crazier than i already am. They can party til 4 in the morning and id never even consider calling the police because im up to all hours of the night anyway and my dogs dont mind people blaring Motley Crue. I dont think Troy plays games with this, and i was told Ofallon is going to put the skids to it this year, but a majority of other cities towns and villages will just try to get through it the best they can and walk a tightrope with it. At least the village denied a permit to someone wanting to sell fireworks locally so that was something i guess. Im glad they did it, but wont stop people from driving to Maryville or across the river but im glad they refused the permit anyway. Im going to try not to call the police this year because last year i could feel the frustration in the dispatchers voice dealing with call after call after call and probably knowing that it was not going to be dealt with. The only thing that will work with 40 year old drunken fools is for them to be fined. I think 3 maybe 4 warnings is enough. The cops probably hate dealing with it, working the Party at the Beach would create fewer headaches.
