1. The tax rate is down considerably. My recollection it was over .70/$100 under Dunstan and now its about .52/$100 AV. Madison County AS A PROPORTION of your tax bill is down a lot.
2. Government is more transparent, and a lot of it is improvement in the outlying agencies like MESD, Wood River Levee District an employee`s stole a ton of money. Those operations are all under pressure from oversight.
3. The whole animal control process was revamped, saving animals and money too.
The whole County Administrator issue is a question about whether or not those people did anything wrong from a policy or ethical perspective. There no question the employees were exonerated legally...they weren't even charged. Prenzler believes every employee is presumed innocent, and each deserve an impartial administrative review;the County Board disagreed. If guilty, I believe Kurt would discipline each up to and including discharge without intervention if that was called for; Prenzler is honest to a fault.
I even believe that Prenzler cares about the tri-cities deeply. No he is not Nelson Hagnaur, and Prenzler cannot say that he made Granite City the great metropolis it is today like Hagnaur could,
but win or lose, Prenzler can say that he gave more than he took; that's rare in politics today.
