For those that complain there's nothing in this town now, you definitely aren't going to like it in a few months.
It doesn't take a prophet to predict that small businesses will start closing their doors for good very soon. As much as I hate to even utter those words I fear that is the future.
I can't imagine trying to be a small business owner in this town during "normal times" but now - how can they possibly survive?
A town that has already seen its population dwindle, the school district rankings drop and then to be shut down and expected to hold on and then hold on some more THEN try to pull themselves out of the deepest darkest hole in our life time?
Who could do that?
As small businesses were forced to close their doors and the public was warned not to be in crowds more than 10, how is it that Walmart and even the grocery stores can keep cramming people in like sardines making record profits?
How?
More importantly Why?
The how I can't answer (but someone should answer) but the why is easy.
Because we're bored.
Because we're selfish.
If "10" is the magic number even essential places should be monitored and held to the same rules. Do you not think this virus is being spread in those places? That's the largest concentration of people at this time.
But small business are still closed trying to do their part in flattening this curve while the possibility of the virus multiply exponentially in these chains is mind boggling.
Heed this warning - when small businesses close, more people will leave this town, followed by the big box stores because a dying community can no longer support them.
Chains don't care about your little league team or your taco sale. Chains don't care about your community.
I get it we're spoiled. We want - what we want, when we want it. So go ahead keep ignoring the warnings but very soon we WILL have to pay the piper with a dying community both literally and figuratively.
For once can this be more than just about ourselves and more for us!
30 more days!
If its tough for you, then what do you think its like for the small business person.
I hope you enjoyed what we HAD in this community as you continue to flock to Walmart for something that could've waited.
