I was searching for a post and saw a few things I had posted about Trump and how Iíve evolved as I started thinking more realistically and logically (instead of a realistic but unrealistic naive realism).
Iíve learned a lot about horrible machinations I suspected to exist, but didnít want to even consider would. I have observed people I viewed as otherwise solid and possessive of intellect enough to evolve their view points ....be found wanting.
As I started looking at the world realistically, and JUST AS IMPORTANT participated in society and achieved things I worked hard for...I understood why I was MAGA (but not Republican). I pretty swiftly shifted from Bernie bro (started after I saw how they manipulated the DNC in Hillaryís favor) too.
Not gonna go into the details of it here, but figured Iíd use the hot button item of (last years) to maybe help someone (especially folks that are older than me who may have agreed with me before, but their emotions wonít let them now) evolve too. Opie, Metal, and I butted heads ALOT!
Maybe not to support POTUS like I do...but to see what they are not seeing and get the damned DNC back to strength. We have barely one more choice than the USSR (and before Trump, with few exceptions, that was either almost or long gone), think about it! And no, donít give me your ďif youíd support other candidatesĒ. Itís unrealistic and emotional. Get on the logic and realistic rails people, weíre adults.
Most Dems and Repubs are good people, but theyíre locked in (wholly emotional, many cases theyíve been funneled into that) tribalism right now.
OR WORSE, have just bowed out completely), especially the white men, who are assaulted daily in the DNC, and STAUNCH liberals too...theyíre not voting Dem in 2020 like they did in 2016 because the DNC has gone off the rails (whether you wanted POTUS impeached or not...you have to admit this was all an embarrassing shit show for our nation....and utterly UNSAT) and told them they donít want them.
See James Carvilles recent comments.
I can barely walk right anymore and I canít run anymore (maybe forever), I donít sleep because I donít want to have the nightmares, I suffer daily AND PROUDLY from what I did (donít want thanks). Now do YOUR job and keep the damned Republic. Do YOUR duty as a citizen and quit being politically lazy (thatís most of you regardless of who you vote for )!
And before I show you the old posts, Iím going answer a probably confusing question for you. ďWhy donít people like you get into politics then if youíre so danced smartĒ or ďThrow your hat in the ring.Ē
I and others like would LOVE to...but weíve seen the measure of some of your resolve in the weakest of challenges, and MANY of you most likely have let us down when we trusted your hollow words of support.
Think about that.
Many folks will say ďhe/she should runĒ. But then they leave them flapping in the wind when expected to be there to vote for them or support them, only to stick to the status quo and bitch about the person they voted for.
It is mind boggling. Anyway, hereís a few. Itís neat. Go back and search your old posts (liberal and I had some good ones, we ended up becoming pals over shared love of music), itís a hoot.
Here is the first post I can find ... 2015
Here is me on the ĎíGOP implodingĒ (over Merrick Garland). Little did I know that was a patriotic move by Mitch McConnell. If you donít, and can put aside your emotions when you do find out...youíll know too.
The USS ElCooksta started slowly turning course around this time. I had initially thought and said I was voting for Hillary...but my gut, in the ballot box SCREAMED ďNo!Ē and I voted for Trump.
As I end my bloviating, I want to say again that there a lot more to our town than Trump or politics. All my specific bitching aside, our city parks and libraries are second to none a huge source of pride for and in our town. I tip my cap to the folks that bust their asses to make sure those entities remain so.
My previous post still stands (about on the fence on moving out of town), but that doesnít mean I donít see great potential.
When I left in 99, dropping N bombs was common parlance in this town. It was a sundown town decades prior.
Itís amazing and we have an opportunity to be an example of how people can come together after a hurtful past.
Thereís many families who donít look like mine moving into my neighborhood. And itís ďjust another day at the officeĒ as it should be, as it was before.
Letís focus on that. Weíre not much different.
I am NOT trying to talk down to anyone. I am human (I think) I bitch too. I let my emotions get the best of me. Iím not a robot.
But I also see the town do amazing things like come together behind a young man who was hurt very bad.
But as I posted months ago, Iíve also seen the town (full of big words of action, or I wish I couldas) fill me with shame when it let our football kids down.
The economy isnít getting worse unless the current DNC philosophy (or one of these communist (letís call it what it is, ditch the siren song) candidates ) gets in full power.
Most of you, in this safe womb you exist in created by the blood of patriots, are seeming to try to create problems instead of finding ways to solve them....stop and think logically. And stop shooting yourselves in the foot!
You may not support POTUS, but logical people arenít in agreement with the actions of the last 3 years, not to mention the tax payer dollars wasted (donít respond with a framing based opinion on this, you got some reading to do (my time is valuable)). And the innocent lives destroyed (no matter how anyone feels about them).
Letís get back to the good olí days of the GCG I found while surfing the web in Balad, Iraq. When garybusey and norad were posting heavy! Anyone remember those days. When you all came together and took a collection for my family as thanks for my service and treated me like a king when I came back?
Harleyriderkev GREAT MAN. I miss his posts.
Ginger and many more. We werenít always bitching about politics. We did bitch about politics. But gosh this is ONLY politics it seems.
Be well all of you, seriously. I hope you all (I know some do) recognize the need to work together and to stop being lead around by our noses over a cliff (and thankfully that will no longer happen). Thereís so much of the same that we want and we can do it.
Or not. Iím ok either way. Sadly, there are many good people who arenít..and only a few of us who can be part of good change. Even fewer are willing because itís a huge burden (especially unpaid) and thankless (not complaining. Stating facts in support of these amazing people who spend so much of their free time (including away from their families) to work hard to try to make this town great. 99% of them unpaid and rarely thanked.
That said, step up. Itís easy. Just do it. Everyone is nervous. Everyone feels uncomfortable when they start these things.
Youíll be ok.
Till I pop in again!
Opie youíre still a dirty ol jarhead
