Per the article: EDWARDSVILLE — Flash flooding Monday in Granite City became a political issue at the Madison County Board’s Public Safety Committee when county board member Mike Parkinson, D-Granite City, blamed much of it on a lack of action by the Metro East Sanitary District.
MESD Executive Director Steve Adler fired back Tuesday, stating that among issues facing southern Madison County are combined septic/stormwater sewers that impeded the flow of water and that Granite City is supposed to maintain ditches cited by Parkinson.
Adler said Granite City is responsible for stormwater drainage within its boundaries.
