Re: retires from central states not being able to work some were
I retired years ago in August of 1995 but I still remember the rules about working after retirement. I was only 54 when I retired after 32 years of service. My outfit went out of business and jobs were getting scarce so I choose to retire. At 54 I was still 8 years away from collecting Social Security and I could not live on the pathetic pension that my Local gave us. However I did check with my Business Agent about working after retirement. I was a Routesalemen for a Commerical Bakery in Brooklyn. He told me that I can work anywhere in any industry except the Baking Industry in our Locals Juristriction which consisted of a 100 mile Radious. at least that's the way it is or was in the Eastern Conference of Teamsters. Im not sure how it is in other States! Im one of the lucky ones as im retired close to 20 years and my Health is good and hit the Golf Course 2 to 3 times a week here at Myrtle Beach. It's another Life here in Retirement land but had a Great Run as a Teamster for 32 years and having another great run now in Retirement! Good Luck to all of you new to Retirement!
