Truth be told, I used the term winterizing because it is the closest to "random long term storage" that describes what our British cars see. With my sons in and out, our daily drivers, and visitors, it takes a very concerted effort to get the British cars off the driveway and onto the street. The weather has very little to do with it. That said, I don't want to drive either the GT6 or the Mini in the limited amount of snow and ice that we get.
Regardless, the GT6 is now sitting with a tank with a very low level of ethanol and a couple of good shots of fuel stabilizer. I hope that over the next few months the car will continue to start and run for us.
