You were right Glen. It's the end of the week and the car is running again.
There was a night and day difference in the suppleness of the replacement carb diaphragms and the ones I bought last month. The new float valve also operates without binding and actually closes off. I set the jets 3 turns down, connected the linkages, gave each carb a very short burst of starter fluid, turned the key to fill the float bowls (electric pump) and it fired on the first turn of the key. 3 turns down was too rich but within a few moments I had them about where they needed to be.
Of course I got this done just in time for the first day of summer. My wife doesn't like driving her GT6 in the depths of summer heat so I hope we have a week or two of cooler weather for her to enjoy the car.

Well Doug welcome to my world!
The parts situation today is terrible; working on these cars for a living every day, I'm well aware of it, it's the biggest problem I have in my bidness...
I've had the exact same situation with some carb diaphragms in the past, noticeably thicker and much stiffer, not allowing the piston to travel freely.
At least Joe's aware of it and making good on it, we're all at the mercy of the (few) manufacturers & suppliers today...
You'll have it running next week!
