Thanks Hazen. The 17mm figure sounds right for 150CDSE carbs.
I worked with a friend yesterday on his TR6 and when I left he insisted I take with me another set of early 150CD carbs (from a Triumph 2000). These things are rough and look like they have been dropped at some point. Still, I'll clean them up and use them in my bench tests. The more carbs I test and work with the more comfortable I will feel about setting the 18mm level and that the float valve is closing.

My gas line routing is the same, plus I have a clear fuel filter just before the carbs. I've never had a leaking from problem, aside from o-rings on the jets or float bowl gaskets. I believe mine are set at 17mm.
However, these are CDSE.
