Yes Rimmer is a good source, I just got one for a J-type from them recently.

I have ZERO experience with overdrives. However, I understand that the D-type uses a conical clutch. That makes relining a specialist job.
Through a little Googling I found that Rimmer Bros has the clutch on an exchange basis. The clutch itself is about $170 with a $125 core charge. Other sources I found were also in Europe and everyone had fairly comparable prices.
In the U.S. I found there are some firms specializing in relining brakes and clutch plates. All seemed to be focused on "flat" applications. However, it would be worthwhile to contact a few (i.e. Industrial Brake & Clutch, etc) and see if they can handle the conical application.
That said, the D-type was used in other British cars and Volvos. It might be worth checking some of the online parts sources unique to Healeys and Volvos.

Does anyone have a source for a clutch or relining a clutch for a D type overdrive?
