In Lucas wiring the headlights are typically not fused and do not go through the ignition switch. On cars of this vintage the factory wiring does not include a relay. However, relays are often added by owners particularly if halogen headlamps have been installed. Therefore, it won't be a fuse or the ignition switch and will only be a relay if one has been added.
If the drop out problem happened with both the high and low beams it could be the switch or the headlight earth wire(s).
If you didn't notice if it happened on both high and low beams, it could be the switch, the ground wire(s), or the wiring couplers for any/all the lamps. The couplers typically have 4 inputs for male bullet connectors. The most problematic ones are right at the front of the bonnet. Over time water and contamination make the connectors brittle and they fall apart.

Hey All.
Had an interesting ride home last night.Took the GT6 to work and well after dark and heading home after working till 9:30 P.M. . A very dark country road and all of a sudden no lights... I stayed cool and slowed down and started to pull over and all at once they came back on. Four times this happened before I finally got home and kissed the ground beneath my feet. Each time the lights went out it lasted a bit longer. The third time was actually the longest and that was about 1 minute. Fourth time was 3 seconds or so. Could it be a heat issue? Maybe a loose wire? How about a relay? 68 GT6 mk1
Thanks for your insight.
