Hazen, I am drawing a blank. In your first/top picture what is the chrome socket resting on (the socket below the heater valve and in front of what looks like a rag)? Also, what vacuum issues do your carbs have? That looks like a Mk1 engine but the carbs look like the later CD2 type with some of the emissions stuff on their sides.
I was very pleased that just last weekend I started our Mk1 GT6 after its winter rest. It has an electric fuel pump so I let the bowls fill for a few moments, then turned the key. It started surprisingly quickly.
