No doubt did everything wrong but didn't have anything to lose. Jigged it. Cut through with a slightly beveled groove. Heated it. Mig welded 1/2 with stainless wire. Heated again. Mig welded 2/2. Buried it in sand to cool.
So far the car is quiet and nothing has cracked yet. Fingers crossed.
