Mk1 head from the exhaust side-note the intake and exhaust ports are inline.
Here you can see the silver colored pushrod tubes by my orange spark-plug boots.
or a corner of the head (That's my little helper/future gear-head)
And a better shot (on a test cart that doubles as storage and simple transport)

: I believe there is a visual difference.
: The early heads have pushrod tubes
: inserted through the head, and I think
: are visible on the exterior of the head
: on the side opposite the manifolds.
: The later heads have a casting that
: extends out around the pushrods and
: rectangular openings cast in the head
: through which the pushrods pass to the
: cam followers. The difference would
: certainly be available with the valve
: cover off. For someone who is
: performance oriented, the early heads
: don't flow as well and will not develop
: as much power, no matter how much
: porting is done.

: I am not sure but it is off a mkI or
: mkII. By the engine number is there a
: way to tell. Anyone?

: early GT6, as in narrow port head? I'm
: in Philadelphia - I'd be interested in
: a spare head and crank.

: Sometime ago, I bought an early GT6
: engine from this guy with an online
: name of Ziggy. After I installed it, I
: noticed that the block had a hairline
: crack. Needless to say, I had to put my
: old engine back. I think the Crankshaft
: and pistons are still good. There was
: no tapping when I had it running. Now
: it is frozen. LOL. Anybody wants it?
