I checked our paperwork and the car was built in June of '67 and delivered to my father-in-law in August of '67. The number is something like KC6233L.
I also found the web page linked below. It suggested the cars before September '67 were 3/4" (19mm) while those that came after were 5/8" (15.9mm). Therefore, I am guessing that the cylinders I installed 20+ years ago were really a bit small.

: One catalog lists 4 different cylinders,
: broken down by production date but they
: aren't listed by size, I'm pretty sure
: the early cars used 5/8 though.
: I do know that there are a number of
: different diameters available for
: different applications using the same
: backing plate, but bigger isn't
: necessarily better.
: It could easily cause premature lockup
: on the rears as the rear unloads under
: heavy braking, and you'll get a
: slightly longer pedal.
: Back to your question, do you know your
: build month?
: I can do more checking tomorrow if it
: helps.

: I am not sure which text is best to
: reference so I am asking here. I did
: not find the information in my factory
: service manual.
:
: I recently purchased parts to rebuild
: the brakes on our Mk1 GT6. Today I
: installed a new right rear wheel
: cylinder. When bleeding the brakes I
: found the new cylinder was leaking. I
: took it apart and found nothing wrong
: but I did find it had a bore of
: 3/4" while the cylinder I removed
: was 5/8".
:
: My question is... did I make a mistake
: 20+ years ago by installing the
: 5/8" bore cylinder or is the
: cylinder I installed today (3/4"
: bore) wrong for the car?
:
: I'd hate to finish with the 3/4"
: bore cylinders only to find they
: applied too much force and caused the
: rear to lock up prematurely.
:
: Thanks for any references you can
: direct me to and/or if you know which
: size wheel cylinder is correct for a
: Mk1 GT6.
