Watch the tach, if it drops it could indicate a low-tension breakdown.
Generally an ignition miss will be low-tension related if it's @ steady throttle, high-tension if under acceleration.
Need a few more clues.

: #1 Son used the Spitfire through the
: Christmas season and took it back to
: college with him. Last weekend he came
: home to drop some things off and
: reported the car has an issue.
: According to him it seems to buck and
: lose power for a second then pickup
: again. He says it happened in all
: gears and typically occurs between 2k
: and 3k RPM. He did not notice any
: strange behavior on the (electronic)
: tach... but he wasn't looking for it at
: the time either. The car has an
: electric fuel pump and he thought it
: sounded "different" during
: the events... but I don't know how he
: would have heard the pump while
: driving.
:
: I drove the car yesterday for about 2
: miles and was unable to make it
: misbehave. I plan on doing a general
: tune up, replace the fuel filters,
: check the float valve settings, and
: make sure all the electrical
: connections to the fuel pump are OK.
:
: If you have any other suggestions for
: things to look for please let me know.
:
: Thanks,
: Doug L.
