Yeh, the cylinders were mostly spared. Oddly though, when we did a compression check before dis-assembly there was nothing. Just a bump on the gauge and it settled back to zero immediately. I think my buddy's gauge (pretty cheap one) may have seen better days. Every cylinder was exactly the same. I'll bring my set up for the next visit (January). Also need to do one of those "Ed China" flip the head over and pour liquid into the chambers to check the valve seatings.
No local head gasket, so the goal of "First-Fire" may have to wait till next time.
