With the time change I doubt I'll even look at the Spitfire until next weekend except maybe to install the new relief valve when it arrives. Hopefully the weekend will be dry and sunny so I can take the car out and drive it for a few more miles and get a better feeling for how the changes will impact the OP.
Regarding the Sprite collector... were you allowed a walk-around at the end of the day to look for it? If not, hopefully it will be easily replaced. We almost had that experience last year when my father-in-law dry-fitted the collector to the Formula-Vee header with the nuts/bolts finger-tight. Half way through the first session the car just "didn't sound right" as he drove by. One half of the hardware had fallen off allowing the pipes to separate. The collector was held on by only one bolt. I will help him load the car tomorrow for a member day at the track on Thursday... the last outing for the year.

: Re oil pump mods, one of the 6- cylinder
: pump gears are .125 longer (IIRC), and
: will fit the spit housing with a .125
: spacer, but I've only done a few of
: these on very high rpm race engines.
: The cold/hot fluctuation COULD be due
: to the higher viscosity cold oil
: causing the gauge reading to be a bit
: lazy?
: Glen
: ps- the POS Sprite got 3 out of 4 good
: sessions in. She set her best time ever
: in morning race. Strapped her in for
: race #2, fired it up... ooops.
: Apparently unbeknownst to both her
: & her crew... (oooh)... the exhaust
: collector had become "disassembled
: from the racecar" at the end of
: the previous race, and was nowhere to
: be found...
