The mic will tell the story.
BTW ebay is full of old machinists tools, old school stuff that the newbies don't want/know how to use.
You can get some great deals on Starrett, Brown & Sharpe etc...

: I see what you are saying Glen. I
: misunderstood what had to change. I
: wrongly assumed it was the other
: direction... that BL decided to bore
: the block smaller to use the existing
: (small journal) cam without bushings.
:
: I took the pistons to the shop today.
: The machinist is swamped since one
: piece of equipment is broken and one
: assistant is out with health issues.
: He had not even had time to measure the
: cam bores in the block for me.
: However, he was very reassuring that he
: did not see any of the obvious signs of
: wear on the cam bores. We'll see.
:
: The upshot is... he's got a lot of work
: ahead of him and not a lot of help. My
: quick rebuild is now officially slow.
: Hopefully it will be done by the end of
: summer.

: Doug the 1500 block doesn't have to be
: bored for the cam bearings. The housing
: bore size is correct, if it isn't badly
: worn.
: The obvious downside is the cost of a
: new small-journal cam.
