In hindsight, if Triumph/BL did not change the wheelbox ratio, it should be possible to replace the square motor with a round one by connecting the round motor to the rack tube and locating the mounting holes for the u-shaped strap that secures a round motor to the horizontal bulkhead.
What remains is to make the wiring work. That will involve sourcing the right color coded wiring and a plug (britishwiring.com) and then finding a suitable switch. The switch from a later Spit/GT6 should work but won't look right in an early car.
There are schematics online that show how to use a pair of Bosch/ISO relays in combination with an ON-OFF-ON double pole switch in place of the Lucas switch. I have done that on a Lemons race car recently but it's not as clean as having the "right switch".
