The plugs were carbon fouled which made no sense seeing as how little run time was on the engine since working on the oil leak. Regardless I adjusted the valves cleaned the plugs, set the timing to 8 BTDC and tried to start the engine. It was not happy but lumbered to life. It ran terribly. I stopped and pulled the plugs and they were already fouled again after only minutes of running. I gave up and started on the carbs.
I found a lot of fuel varnish crud in the float bowls but more importantly, the front carb float was clearly "not right". I happened to put the float in a container of gasoline I had pumped through the lines to clear any debris. One side of the float sank, the other side floated. Fortunately last year I purchased some used carbs just to have them and was able to rob a float from them.
I also found one of the jet o-rings had been damaged during assembly and it was preventing me from getting full/proper adjustment of the jet. That was replaced also.
I got the car where it will start, rev, and idle. The mixture is not dialed in but I am quitting for today. I have had enough automotive problems over the past month. I want to spend the rest of today taking advantage of our spring weather.
So... was it Joe Curto who is selling the unsinkable floats for carbs? Does he have them for the Stromberg 150CD?

: The car was running OK for me but it has

: This is my wife's car and she only
: drives it on incredibly nice days. My

: the rough running is largely due to my
: having to retime the engine after
: pulling the distributor to test for the
: oil leak.
:
: However, since the car sits for long
: periods of time without running I am
: also concerned that the carbs may be

: I had other car related work to carry

: Thanks and I'll update this post as I
: get a chance to work on the car.
