Not sure if any of the earlier TR250s got the long-back crank, but that would make it hard to use the GT6 gearbox as it moves the flywheel back 1/2" or so. You might need to use a GT6 flywheel in any case. It is possible to shoehorn a TR gearbox in: non-OD fairly easy for space, J-type OD possible but tight, A-type OD - huge, probably impossible! Clutch linkage needs modifying - Dolomite Sprint parts work well but not so easy to find west of Atlantic.
Might have sump - steering rack clearance issues - either beat a shallow trough in the TR sump or use a GT6 pan and beat some clearance dimples for #s 1, 2 and (maybe) 3 big ends.
Other than that, fairly straight forward. Standard US-spec 2.5 probably less powerful that a good GT6+ motor though loads of torque. Extra torque won't help transmission and rear end life and you'll want the tallest gearing you can find though the 3.27 is also the weakest.
