FYI, this year's Adirondacks trip will be to Lake Eaton Campground in Long Lake Village, NY from September 10th through the 17th. NY State Parks opens the reservation window (through Reserve America) 9 months before your intended day of arrival, meaning December 10th, 2021. Many folks reserve a site for two weeks (the most that ReserveAmerica will allow), and then cancel the earlier week, so that puts the earliest date that one can reserve a campsite at December 3rd. If you are planning on going up either earlier or later, plan accordingly.
Lake Eaton Campground is fairly small...most RICKA attendees camp somewhere in sites 10-54 (waterfront sites from 31-54). Personally I think the beaches on the other side are nicer (sites 60-100). The campground is pretty spread out, but not too bad a walk unless walking entirely from one end to the other, so I'm not going to obsess over what side you want to camp on. We'll still find each other!
If you are planning on joining our group, kindly contact me at chorbert13@gmail.com so I can add you to the list for future e-mails. Future e-mails will be sent only to those who sign up with me. As of now, I have heard from the following who let me know they intend on going: David Ead and Tamsin Venn; Jean Marie Josephson, Gary Powers, Jen Stanton, Sharon Dragon, Lori Horton, Kim Levin and Flo DiFiore.
Once you have reserved a campsite please let me know what site number you'll be on, and when your expected arrival and departure dates will be. If you did not attend last year, please also send me your contact info (e-mail, cell number). Like last year, I will make a spreadsheet available so everyone in the group will have other's contact info and site location.
As always, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me! -Chuck Horbert
Now is the time to reserve a site in Lake Eaton if you plan on participating in this September trip! And FYI, a little more than half of the campground is CLOSED after Labor Day, so there are less available sites than would usually be available in August when we have done this trip in the past. Once the sites are all booked, it will be difficult to impossible to coordinate activities with the group if you have to stay off-site at a private campground or motel. You must book a site through ReserveAmerica. -Chuck
