Point Judith Pond on Sunday, July 26th

I’ll be leading a trip at Point Judith Pond on Sunday, July 26th. Launch at 10:00 from Knowlesway Extension Waterfront Public Access (220 Knowlesway Ext, Narragansett, RI 02882). We will explore Point Judith Pond, and perhaps paddle over into Potter Pond. There will be significant boat traffic. Due to parking limitations at the put-in this trip is limited to 10. Robert and Elaine - you don't need a sea kayak, a longer rec boat is fine. You can probably do it with a 9' boat, but it might be struggle if we get wind or waves. I'd say a 12-13' boat would be better. Let me know if that changes your mind.

My plan at the moment is to put in at Knowlesway Ext., paddle through Snug Harbor to Potter Pond, and stop for Lunch at Matunuck Beach. I did it today - 6.5-miles, took me about 3 hours. Here is the route.

I’m more concerned about cars than people since parking is on the street. From here we will have to do a waiting list. Let me know if you are interested.

Don't forget that we are using a different put-in - Knowlesway Extension Waterfront Public Access - 220 Knowlesway Ext, Narragansett, RI 02882 on Google Maps. Coming down Point Judith Road (Route 108) you take a right at the Cumberland Farms across from St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. You also need to leave a little extra time for construction/beach traffic.

There are 4 parking sites at the put in and then we will have to park on the street - we'll need to spread out so we don't clog the road.

Its a small put in (especially the path down to the water) so I suggest that you launch and wait on the water near the put in. The view is better anyway.

Had a fun day today on Point Judith Pond and Potter Pond. We paddled from Point Judith Pond, through Snug Harbor and into Potter Pond. We stopped for lunch at Matunuck Beach. We were a little off on the timing for the tide and had to fight a strong current to get back up the channel from Potter Pond to Point Judith Pond. Still a great day.
