We have reached capacity for our blended kayak-SUP paddle on Sun 8/4 in Wickford Cove. If you want to join a waiting list just send an e-mail with your full contact info directly to Mark at firstname.lastname@example.org. |
Please join AMC Narragansett for a blended (SUPs, canoes, kayaks) excursion co-sponsored by RICKA. Paddle in the calm, wind-protected Wickford cove waters among the islands and marshes. A great opportunity to see osprey, great blue heron, green heron, great egrets, cormorants, bufflehead ducks, and maybe a deer or two. All participants will need to sign a waiver (standard protocol for AMC) which will be available at the put-in location from the organizer. This will be a leisurely paddle with kayakers and SUPers traveling generally at the same speed. Note that this is an excursion- you are expected to have paddled before and know how to swim. We will meet in Wickford at Wilson Park at 10:30AM for an 11:00AM launch. Boat and SUP rentals are available from Kayak Centre in the heart of Wickford, located at 70 Brown St. Wickford, RI, 02852, Tel 401-295-4400, Email: email@example.com. See https://www.kayakcentre.com. Let Mark know if you plan to rent and call the shop to reserve your board letting them know you are part of the AMC/RICKA group. We will need to confirm transport of rentals to Wilson Park or adjust logistics for a paddler group rendezvous.
Directions for Wilson Park:
Turn onto Intrepid St. from RT 1 (it's just North of the junction of RT 1 & 1A, near the fire & Police stations). Continue to the launch and the parking lot at the very end. NOTE: You can also get to the launch by going through the main entrance for Wilson Park from RT 1A, just South of the RT 1 & RT 1A junction, but it might be easier going the other way.
