The trip is on. Weather calls for a slight chance of showers after 2:00 and a chance of thunderstorms after 9:00 – we should be fine, but check before you leave just in case. |
We will put in at the Chocolateville Landing and paddle up to Valley Falls. It’s a pretty section of river, and it came up a little after last week’s rain, but will probably be shallow up around the Valley Falls Dam.
The put-in is at the Chocolate Mill Overlook Park on Charles Street at the intersection with Roosevelt Avenue (37 Charles Street, Central Falls, RI will get you close - 41.888221, -71.3822850). There is a pull-off for unloading boats that will hold 2 or 3 cars, but there is NO parking at the put-in. You will need to move your car after unloading and find on-street parking in the neighborhood nearby. That will result in a walk of at least a couple of blocks.
If you have a cart, it might be easier to wheel your boat back to your car after the paddle. It will be crowded at the take out as everyone tries to get back into those three spaces to load up boats.
See you tonight.
