Easy Whitewater Trip on the Deerfield - Saturday 8/19

Hi folks - please let me know if you plan to attend the Deerfield trip on Saturday (8/19) – please note the new day.
This trip is about 10 miles. It is mostly quickwater with a couple of easy class II rapids at the beginning. We could also shorten the trip to 7 miles and take out at Charlemont Academy. Boats 14 feet or under are required, as is a helmet and sprayskirt. I may have an extra helmet if you need one.
For now, let's plan to meet at 12:30 at the paved pull over on the left of Rte 2 just after Crab Apple Rafting. Here are the directions:
Take I-90 West to I-91 North in Springfield. Proceed north to exit 26 in Greenfield, MA. Go around the rotary and pick up Rte 2 West. Continue on Rte 2 West about 11 miles. We will meet at the paved pull over on the left side of Rte 2 just after Crab Apple.
The meeting time may change depending on the release schedule, which will be posted here the Friday before:
We will put in at Zoar Picnic Area 3 hours after the release starts. If you want to meet us up at the put in at Zoar Picnic Area that is OK, but we will be arranging the shuttle from the take out near Crab Apple.
Please RSVP here or send me an email at eckilson@cox.net

Tomorrow's release is 900 CFS starting at 11:00, so we'll meet at the pull over on the left of Rte 2 just after Crab Apple Rafting at 1:30 rather than 12:30. We'll put in at the Zoar Picnic Area at 2:00.

A fun trip as always. We did the 7 mile section from the Zoar Picnic Area to Charlemont Academy. We had 7 boats – 4 kayaks (Kate, Earl, Bob and Andy), 2 canoes (Brian and Erik) and 1 ducky (Sandy). The river was at a nice level for the run - 1,100 cfs on the Charlemont gage, which was a little more than scheduled. Stopped for BBQ on the way home at Smokey Bro's. Great day.
