Here are the final details for the Pawcatuck River Overnight - please send me an email to confirm that you are attending. |
The Pawcatuck is pretty low, so we will put in at Bradford to paddle up to Burlingame. We’ll meet at Bradford Landing at 2:00 on Saturday. You will need to bring:
___ Boat and paddling gear
___ Dry bag for your sleeping bag and clothes (we will have extra’s if you need one)
___ Sleeping bag
___ Foam mattress or other sleeping pad
___ Mess kit (knife, fork, spoon, plate, cup)
___ Clothes for paddling, sitting around the campfire and sleeping
___ Water and your beverage of choice for the evening
___ Snacks (bring some to share)
___ Folding chair for sitting around the fire (bag chairs are fine – nothing too big)
___ Personal items (soap, toothbrush, towel)
___ Toilet paper and a small camp shovel or trowel
___ Insect repellant/sunscreen
You should try to fit as much a possible on your own boat. Items that are not in dry bags can be double bagged in heavy trash bags. We’ll have a two canoes to carry extra gear and large items like chairs. Here is the group equipment we will bring:
___ Extra dry bags
___ Dinning fly/rope
___ Coolers with ice
___ Camp stove and fuel
___ Campfire grill
___ Skillet, camp pots, coffee pot, kitchen utensils
___ Water filter
___ Kitchen soap
___ Hand sanitizer
___ Firewood and charcoal
___ Saw and ax
___ First Aid Kit
If you can contribute to the group items, let me know.
We will probably have hamburgers, hot dogs and marinated chicken for dinner (other suggestions accepted). Let me know if you would like to bring a side dish to share. Salads would be great, or if you are more ambitious the stove and cooking gear will be available. Let me know what you are planning so we’ll have room in the coolers.
We’ll do s’mores or some other snack around the campfire in the evening. Let me know if you have any ideas.
Bacon and eggs for breakfast? I guess we will have to see about that. Any suggestions, let me know.
I expect that we will break camp and paddle back to Bradford around 10:00 or 11:00. You should be on your way home on Sunday by noon.
Email me with any questions.
