Join us at our October meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. as Janice Baker from Save the Lakes gives a presentation on wake boats and their impact on Rhode Island waterways.

Over the last decade there has been strong growth in the sale of new and pre-owned motorboats and wake boats that are designed to generate large wakes. There is increasing evidence that the wakes generated by these boats erode the shoreline, disrupt aquatic ecosystems, degrade water quality and pose a safety hazard to those at the shoreline or on the water.

Janice Baker is Vice President of Save the Lakes - the only statewide organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of Rhode Island’s lakes, ponds, and freshwater resources.
