Our first meeting of the new year will be held February 18th, when we welcome backwoods adventurer Jonathan Malone.
Minister, hiker and musician Jonathan Malone will speak at our February Meeting Jonathan shares many interests with RICKA members including year-round camping, a special fondness for the Adirondacks, great campsite meals, and even a little ukulele music at the campfire. Unlike RICKA, he reaches his destinations with a backpack instead of a boat. Jonathan is a licensed wilderness guide who created his own company, Wilderness Journeys, to help others experience the “glory of nature”. He leads hiking trips for people of all ages, from teenagers to those in their 80's, with treks tailored to individual abilities. As a Baptist pastor, he particularly appreciates helping people find a spiritual connection through nature, though his trips are inclusive and non-denominational. Jonathan's travels take him across the US; he has hiked New England, the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, Arkansas, parts of the Appalachian trail and more. This year he plans a trip to help with beach clean-up in Iceland.
