The access is a dirt drive off of Gilbert Stuart Rd, on the right just uphill from 975 Gilbert Stuart Road (coming from the museum), and may not be marked. The road goes in about a quarter mile to the parking area. If in doubt at any intersections, go left.
Portage carts/wheels are required! It is about a 0.3 mile walk down from the parking area to the access beach. And back. If you want to carry all of your gear in one go instead of use wheels, that is up to you, but I will not slow the group up for you.
Once everyone is unloaded and has their boats on wheels, we will walk down to the launch, and take a break at the beach for a rest and an early lunch/snack. Once we launch, it is a fairly short paddle, no more than 3 miles I am thinking. When I originally planned this, I wasn't thinking in terms of aquatic vegetation, but chances are that we may not be able to go upriver any distance from the pond due to marsh growth...but that depends on how much water levels get bumped up by rain. I am hoping we can at least go some distance downriver to the dam at Gilbert Stuart Museum and back.
Once we return to the beach, if you'd like (and if bug conditions are favorable) we can hang out, have a cocktail or drink, do a short swim, or just relax before the walk back up the hill to the cars.
Bring a lunch, sunscreen, water, bug spray, a beach chair or blanket, and your positive vibes! And if you don't mind, let me know if you are planning on coming by either replying here or to my email, chorbert13@gmail. I plan on leaving the parking area for the access no earlier than 10:45 and no later than 11:00. -Chuck
