Some reminders and helpful advice for tomorrow's Wood River paddle from the Switch Road access to Alton Pond:

Meeting at 9:30 at the Switch Road access. Shuttle at 10:00.

It will be cloudy, but quite hot and humid. Bring plenty of water! At some point we will stop for a swim break. And lunch.

There is one portage of around 600 feet along a road to get around a dam. If you have a portage cart, it is recommended but not required.

The stretch between Switch Road is notorious for trees blocking the river, so be prepared for some short carries over or around them. Wet feet (or more) are almost guaranteed on this trip.

Bug spray is a good idea.

This trip is suitable for all levels of paddlers; all flatwater, no real tricky spots unless a wind kicks up on Alton (but the forecast looks disappointingly short of cooling breezes).
