We will put in at Taylor’s Landing on the corner of Kingston Rd (Rte 138) and Liberty Lane. Coordinates 41 deg 28’ 57.51”N; 71 deg 35’ 05.31”W.
We will paddle up the Chipuxet, through Thirty Acre Pond, to Hundred Acre Pond and maybe a little further, and return.
This is a trip that is not done very often (in fact, I’ve never done it!) but looks good on paper…so this is an exploratory trip of sorts to a new or rarely visited spot along the Wild and Scenic Chipuxet River. Depending on how much of the ponds we will explore, this trip will be about 4 to 4.6 miles round trip…with an option to extend the trip for another short distance downstream of the put-in if folks still have energy to burn when we return to the access. Expect anything, including beaver dams, shallow water, waves on the ponds, poison ivy, bugs…and a lot of beautiful paddling. You may have to get out of the boat for short distances occasionally.
Bring water and a snack or some lunch. I don’t know what the availability of lunch spots is, but we will look.
RSVP here with your real name, please – this is a trip that can be difficult for distancing with a large group, so I am setting the maximum number of participants at 9-11. This way we can keep track of who attended by looking at the list. If you cannot use your real name, email me at chorbert13@gmail.com.
Face coverings and social distancing are required at the launch and take out, and any time people are closer than 6’ apart. Everyone will be responsible for their own equipment and launch. You do not have to wear a face covering while paddling, but you need to have something with you at all times for this purpose. Do not attend if you are ill.
